Western Washington Agricultural Association Welcomes Kim Matthews as New Executive Director

Dear WWAA Stakeholders, Partners, and Members,

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Kim Matthews as the new Executive Director of the Western Washington Agricultural Association (WWAA).

Kim brings extensive experience in economic development, public policy, and nonprofit leadership. A native of the Pacific Northwest, she most recently served as Executive Director of Discover Klamath, where she led strategic planning, organizational restructuring, and a digital transformation that enhanced regional tourism and strengthened public-private partnerships.

Her background also includes leadership roles with Adams Industries and the City of Sidney, Nebraska, where she secured millions in federal and state funding to support infrastructure, agricultural logistics, and rural revitalization efforts.

In addition to her professional experience, Matthews has a strong personal connection to agriculture. Her family farmed for generations in Central Nebraska, and her former partner—still a close friend—continues to operate a farm in the western part of the state. This background provides her with firsthand insight into the challenges and opportunities faced by today’s farm families and producers.

Kim’s expertise in stakeholder engagement, legislative advocacy, grant acquisition, and strategic development will be a strong asset to WWAA as we continue to protect and promote the interests of Western Washington agriculture. She is eager to listen, learn, and connect with each of you in the weeks and months ahead.
